From cold feet

Ducks have cold feet, but they don’t mind. They have a special phenomenon to thank for that: the countercurrent principle. That’s exactly the principle I illustrated with two infographics for the “Daily Life & Research” section of the PSI magazine. For the first part of the double page, I illustrated a delightful duck with the countercurrent principle in its feet and, on the research page, I presented the countercurrent principle in membranes. In a technical application, for example, the components of biogas could be selectively separated so that it is suitable for use in the gas grid.
