Inherited fear
For the first issue of bild der wissenschaft in the new year, I contributed an infographic on the topic of epigenetics. Using light switches, lightning bolts and glowing images, I illustrated the way in which trauma can leave its mark on the genes – and thus be passed on from generation to generation. However, it is not the genetic information itself that is changed, but only the frequency with which it is read. I wrote the text in the left half of the image myself for this graphic.
